Presentation and Analysing shows!

I did my presentation earlier and was very pleased to get a distinction.

So, as for analysing radio shows-something which everyone else haven't done as well, I will talk about Heart radio station, this is aimed at late teens up to early forties, the show includes older presenters about forty-fifty years old. The Heart is a local station for Oxfordshire and often has updates on the latest news and weather reports. It was originally called; 'Fox FM', however, after the change in name, a new quiz show was introduced and surrounds older music, but of course to answer the questions, there has to be callers that phone-in and a prize to be won at the end for the winner that answers the most questions right. The quiz asks questions on particular artists or bands about records, when they released or who sung them, often the questions are really hard and are for more older listeners, since the questions are based on older tracks and dedicated listeners to answer. The bed music is usually cheerful and relaxed and the mixing is done really well, the times I've listened to it there hasn't been any mistakes.

The presenters on the Heart usually sound relaxed and informal, however, they can often sound dull, however, they are able to maintain a rather cheerful atmosphere, I guess it's because of the bed music and that the callers sound cheerful enough when they speak. The presenters personality is easily recognised, I can tell that they like their jobs, but that often they're a little tired or bored.

As for the final radio show my group produced, it was a great success, the music was well chosen since it weren't just based on one genre but on all types, the mixing was executed really well and the jingles were very funky and creative. Mine and Freddie's speech package turned out really well and definitely set the mood of the show, the presenters were cheerful and all scored themselves Distinctions at the end. It held my interest until the end and at one point when there was some technical difficulties when my speech package wouldn't play, they thought on the spot and continued on with the show and played other songs, they handled the situation very well and apologised afterwards about the technical difficulties.

Presenting in my speech package was rather difficult at the time, since I was told to act cheerful but everytime I tried in my normal voice to be cheerful, but it didn't come out so well, so I put emphasis in a different voice, since myself and Freddie did our speech packages together, we both decided that we wanted to make it unique, I found it really fun and enjoyed it, thankfully it played at the end of the show and tied in with it.

Final Live Show!

03/03/10.
Everyone was majorly stressed out today, I was feeling it as well, even though I weren't doing anything else in it.
It was probably a good thing I weren't presenting on the show since I've got a sore throat and can't stop sniffing and coughing, so when it did come to my groups live show, I decided to wait outside for them.
We all had sheets to write down comments on each live show, it was rather long and after a while got a bit boring, but it was interesting to hear how the others did, most of them did very well.
My group went last since Freddie DID end up coming in late, but he DID turn up and went straight to work :)
In my opinion, the show went really well and whilst I was sat outside, I decided to write down comments about what I thought of the show-which I accidentally left at college, I was very impressed when they still continued on with the show when there was some technical difficulties with-can guess it?
MY speech package, yep, there's just no end to my suffering.
I was very worried at that point, I was being marked on this and I hadn't been marked on anything else apart from that, so it was a HUGE relief when it finally played at the end of the show, clearer than I thought it would be and I didn't even cringe at the sound of my own voice in that weird American, creepy, mother-like accent.
Everyone got Distinctions-except for me, since I don't know what my grade is yet, Beckie said she'd tell me tomorrow, because I had to rush off for my bus, I can only hope it came out alright, the show over all got a distinction which I'm thankful for, since I knew how much the others really wanted it.
That's it for our radio shows, which I'm happy about, I'm not keen on radio and although it was interesting, I think I know what I want to do for my final project.
Tomorrow is our last radio lesson with Beckie, which is quite sad, but I'm sure I'll see her about, we have to take in everything we've done in radio tomorrow, so my bag is going to be VERY heavy and I shall then find out my grade for my speech package.
Oh! I'm also presenting my radio show presentation, a little late, but I'm glad all that hard work I put into it hasn't been for nothing :)

Something Gone Wrong-AGAIN

01/03/10
I came in today and was told by Sophie that Freddie lost my speech package and either:

1. Had to re-do it for the 3rd time
OR
2. E-mail Beckie and tell her what's happened and what she thinks I should do about it.

I went with the 2nd idea and decided to wait and see what Freddie says when he turns up, so I waited and waited and waited, Freddie didn't turn up until fifteen minutes at the end of the last lesson of the day.
I'd forgotten to e-mail Beckie and by the time Sophie reminded me, I'd already logged off the computer, there was a bit of...discussion and in the end Freddie suggested to just use the audio from where we'd saved it on the computer and just edit it there.
I stayed behind for almost an hour with Sophie and Freddie, since we were originally going to record the adverts, however, the majority of the time was spent editing my speech package.
I really couldn't stay any longer and there still needed to be a lot to finish editing on my speech pacjage, Freddie said he'd finish it off for me-which I was grateful for and Sophie said that she would have Keerah in the advert, so I didn't have anything to worry about.
However, there was one thing that did annoy me, over the course of the week or so, I'd been told I was going to be a presenter in the show, I was looking forward to it, except when I asked Sophie if I'll have a copy of the script to read through first-thing on wednesday (she still needed to type the script up) she then told me "You're not presenting, me Freddie and James are presenting."
I was a little upset, but I knew it was her choice, I was just worried that Freddie won't turn up and then it'll all fall to pieces.
So, in the end, I've only got my speech package to be graded on, I don't mind too much, but I was hoping to have a go at presenting-guess it must be my unenthusiatic voice that put them all off the idea, since they complained about it before I went to record my speech package.
Sophie has organised everyone-apart from me, to go in tomorrow and run-through the show about 3:00pm?
Sometime like that.
